Perth’s soggy start to the week will give way to a burst of summer-like sunshine, with temperatures climbing to 28C before showers return for the weekend.

The city woke to grey skies and showers on Monday, with a chill in the air.

The Bureau of Meteorology has forecast a medium chance of more rain during the morning and afternoon.

But the damp conditions will be short-lived, with the sun set to return on Tuesday as the mercury climbs to 27C after a low of 12C.

The warm weather will continue into Wednesday, when Perth is forecast to hit 28C under mostly sunny skies before easing slightly to 26C on Thursday.

The run of sunny weather will begin to break on Friday, with a medium chance of showers and a top of 25C.

Showers are more likely on Saturday, when the temperature is forecast to reach 23C.

Sunday will bring a similar top of 23C, with rain likely during the morning.
