There are people who travel for art, architecture and history. And then there are those who arrive in a new city and immediately want to know where to find the best coffee.

If you fall into the latter camp, a new book may provide plenty of inspiration for your next trip.

The book — 150 Coffee Shops You Need To Visit Before You Die — does pretty much what it says on the cover, rounding up 150 cafes around the world that are considered worthy of a place on any coffee lover’s travel list.

Curated by London-based travel and food journalist Lea Teuscher, the latest edition ventures into neighbourhood cafes and celebrated coffee shops around the globe, looking beyond what is in the cup to the places themselves.

Part travel guide, part coffee-table book and part excuse to start planning another holiday, it taps into the idea that cafes can offer travellers a surprisingly good window into a destination.

What’s more, West Australians don’t necessarily need to travel very far to tick at least one entry off the list, with Community Coffee Co in Subiaco earning its place among the book’s 150 recommendations. It’s a nice bit of recognition for WA’s coffee scene.

Melbourne’s Aunty Peg’s, Manta Ray and Patricia Coffee Brewers also made the cut, as did Sydney’s Genovese Coffee House, ONA Coffee and Single O Surry Hills.

Published by Lannoo Publishers, 150 Coffee Shops You Need To Visit Before You Die retails for around $75.00 to $97.99 locally.
